Fluid Imaging Technologies and Algasol Alliance announce corporate alliance

Fluid Imaging Technologies

Yarmouth, ME:

Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. (www.fluidimaging.com), manufacturer of the FlowCAM® dynamic imaging particle analyzer used globally for industrial and aquatic applications, and Algasol Renewables (www.algasol.com), owners of the world leading, proprietary, floating PhotoBioReactor (“PBR”) technology for the low-cost and resource efficient cultivation of microalgae biomass, have announced their corporate alliance. The two companies recognize the natural synergy of their technologies and are planning to collaborate in order to better serve algae research/productivity and clients.

Victoria Kurtz, Manager of Algae Technologies at Fluid Imaging Technologies commented, “We’re excited about our collaborative marketing effort with Algasol Renewables. The importance of consistent monitoring and analysis of algal growth and nutrition and the detection of contaminants in an industrial-scale algae bioreactor cannot be understated.” She added, “The pairing of two proprietary technologies, the Algasol Renewables PBR and the FlowCAM imaging particle analyzer, ensures a winning combination for the algae biofuels industry.”

“We’re excited to showcase the FlowCAM to our clients and network,” said Miguel Verhein of Algasol Renewables. “Fluid Imaging’s technology is a mandatory tool for accurate monitoring, and complements our proprietary PBR system. Algae biomass producers can better measure growth conditions and adapt to local climates. Constant, internal observations will help to ensure a high quality biomass for the eventual refinement to feed, fertilizer, chemicals, fuels, etc. Through our joint collaboration and integration we augment algal research and commercial development efforts.”

Algasol Renewables is commercializing its globally patented floating PhotoBioReactor (PBR) technology, the growth platform for low-cost (CAPEX and OPEX), and resource-efficient cultivation of microalgae for biofuels and high value products. The technology, a flexible (polymer film) PBR, floats on water and is deployable both on land, in ponds, and in the ocean. A worldwide patent covers all key aspects of Algasol’s PBR system. Algasol is currently establishing a manufacturing plant for its three commercial-sized PBRs in the state of Arizona, where it has a long track record, being a founding member of The Arizona Center for Algae Technology and Innovation (AzCATI - http://www.azcati.com/).

Fluid Imaging manufactures industry-leading particle analysis instrumentation based on digital imaging technology. The FlowCAM®, first manufactured in 1999, was the first automated particle analysis instrument to use digital imaging for measuring size and shape of microscopic particles in a fluid medium. With applications in oceanographic research, municipal water, pharmaceutical formulations, chemicals, biofuels and many other markets, Fluid Imaging continues to lead the way in imaging particle analysis. FlowCAM customers include the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. EPA, U.S. Naval Research Labs, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, The Bureau of Reclamation and Massachusetts Water Resource Authority, among many others worldwide.
