Why is it
free?
The site was designed to service the
hundreds of companies that belong to MESDA. Most major job boards charge
employers hundreds of dollars to post jobs, and thousands of dollars to search
for resumes. Our site is free for MESDA members, and we pay the bills by
offering low cost advertising and the option to enhance job and resume postings.
Job seekers and individuals looking for internship positions may post their
resumes at no cost. MESDA reserves the right to remove any posting at any time for any reason.

employers with qualified employees. As it grows, it will evolve into an even better resource. Please note, information is deleted from our database 61
days after posting, and will never be sold to other
organizations.

Answers for
EMPLOYERS:
Why should I use the MESDA Job Board?
The MESDA Job Board allows MESDA members to post openings and to search our database of resumes.
The ideal candidate is too savvy to post her or his resume to the large boards on the Web. Sharp candidates realize they lose control over personal information when they place their resumes into massive databanks, and they definitely don't want to risk their employers finding their resumes online.
Many of the best candidates aren’t cruising the monstrously large boards in their spare time. These prime, passive candidates are reading ads on job boards in their desired communities based on their skills, industry or function. These candidates respond directly to position advertisements. Your ideal candidate is looking at jobs posted on focused regional sites and niche industry portals like the MESDA site.
MESDA members can post and edit open positions and Internship opportunities and have them appear live on the MESDA site
Showcase your company as a leader in Maine's Software and Information Technology Industry. Start receiving resumes from qualified candidates desiring employment at your company. Fill job openings faster with no added cost - this is a FREE service for MESDA members!
Only MESDA members can search Job Candidate and Intern resumes in the database
Members Only status means fewer companies are searching our resume database, meaning your company faces less competition when trying to land top candidates. Better qualified candidates, a larger pool of talent and less hiring competition - it all adds up to faster, smarter and more cost-effective candidate searching. Did we mention that this is a FREE service for MESDA members!
Registering to post openings and search resumes is 1-2-3 easy for MESDA members. Designate the individual(s) from your company that will have access to the Jobs Board and:
1. click on the Employer Register link
2. complete the contact data form
3. MESDA will send a confirmation e-mail, within 1 business day, announcing access to post jobs and search resumes on the Job Board
MESDA members can list all Job openings and Internship opportunities. A variety of job title classifications, job types and formatting options are available to assist in promoting current openings. Job title classifications are aligned with the Career Sector and Job Description resource areas of the MESDA site.

What does an
effective job posting look like?
Job postings vary in terms of
creativity, content, and form, but all effective job postings share these common
characteristics:
Description: Let candidates
know what the job responsibilities are, what the work environment is, and what
the expectations are. This will cut down on the number of unqualified
responses.
Requirements: Clearly state the minimum level of
experience you are looking for. If you need someone with 5+ years of experience,
include that in your posting. Avoid remarks that show favoritism towards
specific individuals, such as qualifications of race, sexual orientation,
socio-economic status, etc. MESDA is not responsible for individual postings on
this site, but flagrant or disrespectful postings will be
removed.
Duration of position, location, and salary range: Once
again, this will provide candidates with more specifics of the position,
limiting the amount of unqualified replies.
Contact Information:
The most dynamic, attractive job posting is worthless if interested parties
don't know how to contact you. This is a public forum, so personal contact
information should be posted with caution, but at the very minimum you should
post a contact email address. Postings containing objective language will be
removed at our discretion.
Top
How long will my
job(s) remain posted on the site?
Jobs remain posted for 60 days. If
the position remains open after this 60-day period, you may renew the position
by completing the posting process again.
Top
Can I post a link to
my company's website?
Definitely, this is the most
effective way of offering interested candidates information about your
company.
Top
Will I receive
resumes directly from candidates?
Interested candidates will reply to
your posting via the online link or e-mail address you provide.

I have 3 openings
for software developers. Can I post all 3 in one
posting?
Yes, but postings generally get more
hits when placed individually.

How can my company be showcased as a Featured Employer?

Why should I post my resume on the MESDA Job Board?
The new MESDA Job Board is a result of the success of our previous resume-forwarding program. The new Job Board makes it easier and faster for MESDA members to post openings and to search for your resume.
You understand that the large boards on the Web don't often reach the companies that are growing the fastest. You realize the loss of control over personal information when you place your resume into massive databanks, and you definitely don't want to risk your employer finding your resume online. You aren’t cruising the monstrously large boards in your spare time. You are reading ads and researching regional job boards based on your skills, preferred location, industry or function - that is why "you are here".
A variety of job title classifications, job types and formatting options are available to assist in posting your resume and searching for positions. Job title classifications are aligned with the Career Sector and Job Description resource areas of the MESDA site.

Who will see my
resume?
Your resume will be seen by MESDA
members who visit the site you post it on, and finds it via search or otherwise.

Your previous resume is available for you to view and use as a template for a new posting while it is in the database. You will need to submit and activate a new resume for your listing to be valid.
Your data will never be sold to other organizations. Due to the public nature of this forum, we
remind you to only post information that you want to have viewed publicly

I'm currently
employed. What should I do to be sure that my employer doesn't know I'm looking
for a new job?
The only way to minimize the chance
of this happening is to increase the confidentiality of your resume. Instead of
posting your name and phone number, simply post a personal email address.
Instead of posting the name of your current and previous employers, simply refer
to the company as 'confidential'. Keep in mind, your employers may realize whose
resume it is simply by reading the content.
Top
How long will my
resume be posted?
Your resume will remain posted for 60
days. If you are still seeking employment after 60 days, simply go through the
resume posting process again. Your information is removed from our database listing 61 days after posting, and will be permanently removed from the database after 120 days. Your previous resume is available for you to view and use as a template for a new posting while it is in the database. You will need to submit and activate a new resume for your listing to be valid.

How will interested
employers contact me?
Interested employers will contact you
via whatever contact information you post with your resume. Since this is a
public forum, it is recommended to use caution when posting personal information
(address, phone number, etc.), but at the very least you should include a
personal email address.
