The Governor's Award for Technology Company of the Year
- Blue Marble Geographics
- Recognition of Blue Marble complements a solid company, and confirms the importance of rewarding successful small technology businesses that stay in state, train and employ our technology graduates.

- Exemplary success in taking technology developed in a Maine non-profit institution (Bigelow Laboratories for Ocean Sciences) and commercializing it into a multi-million dollar international business. - Quantrix
- Quantrix has grown past the start-up phase to become a solid corporate citizen within Maine's technology community. Its business strategy of enhancing its innovative software with a professional services team, plus its recruitment of international resellers, has enabled the company to achieve 100+ percent growth in sales within the past year. The executive team continues to give back to the community by serving on boards and committees that support the growth of technology in the state.

- Technology Systems Inc.
- Technology Systems Inc has exhibited break out performance in technology innovation and transition to military use. This has resulted in record sales and company growth, yet all the while it has maintained its identity as a people-centric, great place to work.
- Tilson Technology Management
- Tilson Technology Management has proved itself a creditable Maine-based technology consulting firm, doubling its profits and number of employees for three consecutive years; from one to nine employees. Its strong commitments to find technology solutions that meet challenging business needs, remain independent, and provide superior customer service have stimulated and sustained its growth.
CxO of the Year
- Patrick Cunningham (Blue Marble Geographics)
- Cunningham has lead Blue Marble four years growing revenues and profits each year, organically with no outside funding, while doubling headcount. 2007 was a record sales year for the company. Cunningham attributes this success to bringing together a team of technologists that really enjoy their work and want to stay in Maine.
- Peter Murray (Quantrix)
- The CxO of the Year should be someone who sets an example for others to follow. Pete meets that criterion handily - his technical expertise has lead to the creation of an exciting, fast-selling product offering real technological breakthrough for financial executives. His service to TechMaine and other entities has lead to the expansion of Maine's technology community. He exemplifies the leadership needed by Maine's technology community.
- Ashok Nalamalapu (iCST)
- Ashok Nalamalapu's leadership has turned iCST into an award-winning company that has had a solid and reputable presence in Maine's IT market for more than a decade.
New Technology of the Year
- Parco Merged Media
- Parco Merged Media has developed a new receiver/antenna enclosure which is revolutionizing the installation of RFID location systems. In addition all of the components (except for the screws) are manufactured in Maine at companies including RF Technologies LLC (Auburn), Pettingill Ross (Gorham/Westbrook) and Thermo Plastics New England (Biddeford/Saco).
- Pet Health Network
- By helping veterinarians worldwide communicate important treatment needs of their patients, our pets and four-legged family members can live longer healthier lives.
- Second Signal
- Second Signal is a unique and affordable solution to manpower challenges faced by rural fire departments like those in Maine. Volunteers are working further than ever from their home towns and are often just outside dispatch range during the day. Second Signal brings them back when they're needed.
Technology Innovator of the Year
- Mike Farnsworth (Parco Merged Media)
- Mike Farnsworth has been instrumental in the design of a new receiver/antenna enclosure which is revolutionizing the installation of RFID location systems. Mike is a University of Maine (Orono) graduate in Mechanical Engineering.
- Jeremy Knope (RainStorm Consulting)
- As co-creator and lead programmer of SiteTurbine, Jeremy Knope has crafted industry-leading web-based software which places Maine on the national map for enterprise website management. As a member of the Mac software development community, Jeremy's innovations have landed him mentions in the national press and the respect of his peers.
- Peter Leopold (BioAnalyte)
- Peter has opened a window of opportunity for his cutting edge technology to be the basis of a very high brand value for Maine as a high-tech bioinformatics heaven. Peter is a great champion for Maine and a co-founder of TechMaine’s BioInformatics Special Interest Group.

- Lance Dutson has created a campaign site at the state level that could compete with the best political sites at the national level. The site incorporates great multimedia, integrates with the top social networking sites, makes it easy to contribute to the campaign, a great blog from Susan Collins herself and is updated everyday.

- The Big Easy is Portland, Maine's premier night spot. The club wanted a new Web site that rocks as loud as they do. The Content Manager allows easy-self-publishing of upcoming events as well as multiple Photo Galleries of local bands in action on its stage. The design really makes you want to be there!

- Designed for moms on the go, usability is key for this site. The look and feel is tailored for the same end-user. Its pleasing to the eye and extremely easy to use. The informational resources on party planning, education, and more continually grow.

- MaineBoats.com was a redevelopment project that needed to integrate with a publication's workflow. Developed as a modified Drupal CMS, it includes Flash text replacement technology, custom templating, as well as dynamic Flash video, audio, and slideshow capability.

- This Web site includes stories, photos, podcasts, blogs, and more. Current Colby students produce all the content, much of which is included in a printed magazine. The website provides a student perspective on life at Colby to prospective students.

- This site draws out the visually appealing nature of this part of the Maine Coast. For many Internet searchers, the site is a tourist gateway to the region and it was very important to the Chamber that the site, through its look and feel, compare favorably to similar sites for more well-known Downeast destinations.

The Technology Awards showcase the progress and recognize the accomplishments and significant contributions of the state's technology sectors over the past year and present awards to Maine's top technology companies. This event allows TechMaine the opportunity to highlight outstanding achievements and success stories from technology firms across the state.
We are especially pleased this year to announce the Governor's Award for Technology Company of the Year.
Join us and our special guest Tom DeMarco as the Master of Ceremony for this year's Technology Awards Gala. Tom is a Principal of the Atlantic Systems Guild, and a Fellow of the Cutter Consortium. He was the winner of the 1986 Warnier Prize for "lifetime contribution to the field of computing," and the 1999 Stevens Award for "contribution to the methods of software development."
Along with the other members of The Atlantic Systems Guild, Tom has written a 2008 book on patterns of behavior observed when groups of technical workers join together to take on a substantial task. The book is called: Adrenaline Junkies and Template Zombies: Understanding Patterns of Project Behavior.
The 2008 Technology Awards Gala will be held Tuesday, May 20. The Gala features heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar plus exceptional networking opportunities. Register Today
