Regional and State Energy Policy Update

Regional Energy Policy - Clean Energy Procurement

In 2017, Massachusetts called out for proposals for 1200 megawatts (MW) of clean energy and 1600 MW of offshore wind. Bids have been submitted for significant hydro, solar, and wind projects that, if accepted, will significantly alter New England's renewable energy landscape. This session examines a handful of approaches with both generation and transmission footprints in Maine.

Regional Energy Policy - The Role of DOE

Regional procurement and program decisions like the Massachusetts and multi-state clean-energy RFPs are driving electricity generation and transmission decisions in New England States and Eastern Canadian provinces. The DOE Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability is on hand to provide analysis to States and regions on electricity policies, programs, laws, and regulations that facilitate electricity infrastructure investment needed to deliver clean, affordable, and reliable electricity to customers.

Regional Energy Policy - Impacts on Maine

New England, as a region, is looking to move towards a clean energy future, while individual states have been developing and implementing their own environmental policies for many years. Can a regional approach to energy and environmental policy work? How does what happens in Massachusetts or Connecticut translate to a more rural state like Maine? How does a patchwork of state initiatives fit into regional plans?

State E&E Policy - 128th Legislature Update

In 2017, the Maine Legislature considered a diverse portfolio of energy and environmental bills related to renewable standards, solar energy, wind permitting, recycling, mining regulations, and many other topics. E2Tech is bringing policy, environmental, business, and legislative leaders together to discuss recent legislation and look ahead at interpretation and implementation of the new laws, as well as priorities carried over to next year.
